I'm back and I'm married!!

It has been an adjustment being married and living in a new place and being responsible for buying all the food and cooking for my husband and I. I work part-time, but I work 29 hours a week which can sometimes feel like full-time. I have not had the opportunity to do meal planning or work out due to using my spare time for organizing and daily cleaning tasks.
The other night I made myself a healthy dinner with what was left in the fridge and needed to be eaten.

I used Kale and Zucchini and green Peppers. It was a lot of green, but it was so good.

Then I took our left over Kale and made Kale chips using this recipe. They came out a little crisp because I didn't set the time right...but they are still so good! It is so interesting how Kale can be so bitter raw, but when cooked in many different ways it becomes sweet :)

Now, I am working on setting up a schedule for myself for working out. I don't have my treadmill anymore or my weights, but I have all my work videos like Turbo Fire and I plan on using them more soon.

Thank you for viewing my blog...say tuned for more updates as the Healthy First Kiss Girl get's herself on track in this new chapter of life!

God bless and may you choose your food well :)

Just sharing some progress...

  • I have been drinking a glass of water at least upon waking up, at lunch, before I'm off work, and before bed.
  • I have taken breads and pasta out of my diet this week.
  • I have been having detox tea before bed most nights.
  • Limiting my diet to healthy, smaller meals.

I feel pretty good because of the water. And I don't really miss bread or pasta :)

I can do it! :)

Oh, sweets

Recently, I have been pretty much giving up sweets gradually. On an average day, I avoid them completely. When a craving comes up I grab a protein or just down a bunch of water. It has been working and today I had a funny experience. Through a tiny bit of stress I all of a sudden thought of a doughnut, but right as my brain was about to say "ugh, I want a doughnut!!!" I pretty much remembered how disappointed I am every time I eat a doughnut. It seems like the anticipation of consuming it is stronger than the actual satisfaction afterwards for me. I am not a big cake person, and a doughnut is like cake. My eyes are often more tempted than my stomach.
All of a sudden I did not want a doughnut anymore and I didn't even want to think about it (it grossed me out to be honest).

I wouldn't say that I'm dieting, or that a diet is "working". I would say that I have decided to eat things that make me feel good...and sweets just don't make me feel good...so now that my mindset is changing, I am now eating healthy and I feel really good :) I am breaking the emotional attachment to food. Only a limited amount of times have I actually "craved" anything and most of the time it has been craving yogurt, kale, water and fruit. I slip up a few times and allow myself a piece of chocolate or chip every once in a while, but I try to figure out why I want that thing because normally when I crave something like chips it's purely just for craving sodium, something my body needs some of. So I am really working hard to get to know my body.

It is possible to change the way you eat. But it has to be your decision. Your body doesn't "crave" things...you tell your body what to eat...you're the one who chooses the menu...you're in control of it...you tell it what to do. It's isn't the food's fault. Get to know your body and it's needs, rather than your wants.

Let's take responsibility and care for this body God has given us. I for one, want to feel good...and I've been studying and researching myself and information on how to do that.

Why do we eat unhealthy foods...

This is a great article!

Healthy attitude

Being healthy is only as good as our attitude about things. Yeah, we can follow a diet, or even have a personal trainer, but it's when we decide for ourselves to change our attitude when things start getting really healthy. :) no one can change you...you're the one held accountable. Figure it out and go for it :)

No matter where you are...the sun never stop shining no matter how many cloud block your sight of it. The same is true about God, He is there, He's always been there even if sometimes you feel like you can't see Him. ⛅

Being Healthy

I think that this new healthy thing that we are reading about and seeing commercials for and reading things on Facebook has a lot to do with our mental health. How we view ourselves, how we view others, and how we view life in general.

Being healthy is a huge need in our culture today. We can eat all the healthy foods and use the best vitamins, but if our mentality isn't healthy we are still susceptible to being depressed and unhealthy. Just like the way Christians live their lives, it's starts with the heart. What does our heart want and desire, what does it see in things, how do we feel. Feelings can have a tendency to lead us astray and overpower us, but they are also a part of our being, they are going to happen and they can be good. Once again, I believe this has a lot to do with our mental state and our heart.

So today, whatever is going on, whatever you are eating or whoever you are coming in contact with, think about your healthy mentality and your healthy heart. Other things tend to go a whole lot better when we decide in our core how we are going to be.

God bless

Sharing..

Hey followers!! I had soup today...and I wanted to let you know about this awesome soup bowl from Tupperware! It's a part of their Vent-and-Serve line.

It's the perfect size and it can handle the heat ;) you just dump you can of soup in, put on the lid and pop the little top to let it vent and heat it up :) it's easy!
I was bringing mugs with me to heat up my soup but they weren't big enough and it didn't hear evenly.

If you are interested I can help you contact my Tupperware Lady :)

Have a great day!!! It's beautiful here!!! :)

Loving food

It's no surprise at my love for food. I am Italian and a girl.
But sometimes I forget this fact because I get caught up with coffee and chocolate. Yesterday as I reached for the cookies it was almost like I could feel my body saying "but we want veggies!" Then the power went out and     I   HAD   NO   CHOICE...the cookies won! Haha.

Today, I'm trying to remember my love for food. Eggs are full of good protein and they are clean. Cheese is also a good protein in the dairy group. And multi-grain bread gives me both the carbs I desire and the grains for healthy digestion and energy.

I love this breakfast! It gets me set up for a good day :) and coupled with fruit, it is sure to be a productive day :)

Hope this encourages you today to love food and use it properly. Listen to your body :) [I'll be having veggies for lunch haha]

Lunch

Loving me some veggie straws!!

Costco has a big bag that now has sweet potato! They are my comfort food right now that I don't feel so bad about. They don't by any means replace my veggies though!

I also am using fruit & veggie twists with KALE (which I love)...

And for later I have a V8 Fusion and a peach fruit cup!
Pretty much all these are from Costco! Haha ADVERTIZEMENT! ;)

I pack myself as many fruits, veggies and proteins as I can...that way that's all I have to eat! I don't pack chocolate or chips...if I don't bring them, then I can't eat them. It's important to learn the part of "you" and how you can encourage yourself to eat better throughout the day. If you work, it's a great opportunity to set yourself up for success! :)

Hope that my lunches encourage you!! :)

The shopping cart!

Hello followers,
last week my Mom and I went to Costco. We hadn't been in a while due to some snow here in Virginia and my family being sick on top of it. I wanted to share what our CART looked like...

If you're following me, you know that I try to make good choices for my body. These choices are also choices my family has been making. This cart has mostly fruits and veggies in it. What you don't see is: soda, doughnuts, desserts, packaged meals, bagged snacks, etc. I'm not saying those things are bad...but when eaten often and being a regular thing you buy (maybe even just because it's on sale, which isn't an excuse) it is not good for your body. They are okay in moderation and on occasion but not to be a part of a regular diet or shopping day. If you've ever been to Costco, you know the temptation we faced! Be encouraged...look at our cart...it can be done! haha. (this photo was taken at the check out...so we didn't add anything after this lol)

Make healthy choices today...fuel your body, not your taste buds :)
Blessings to you!!

Health

hey followers,

Thank you for not giving up on me. I have not been doing much purposed food choices lately, and I'm feeling it (and seeing it). Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll have some more food type things to share. For now, look at my other blogs for some spiritual health :)

Hello Weekend!

Okay followers...I still love Quinoa. Yesterday my Dad grilled some chicken, I steamed some Kale and mixed veggies with Italian seasoning. Today I'm putting those leftovers in my Quinoa.

I am also taking on the AB Alphabet. (Ill post the link to that when I'm at my laptop). I did some things with 10LB weights and did a minute wall sit (was at 3 minutes but took a break and have to build up again).

My advice today would be, enjoy the weekend. Don't be consumed in thinking about eating right or your weight. Life is about investing in people...no matter what you look like. God has plans for you today...let your diet follow you...not you follow your diet. Do what's healthy for the awesome person you are :)

My Day :)

Hello followers!

It has been a while since I've posted! Today I would like to do a quick post about my day and give you some cool info about my new Favorite food!

My Day:
Breakfast: Banana and Coffee
Lunch: Cheese and ham on whole grain wrap and Quinoa
Dinner: Honey-nut Cheerio's (because I could)

My new favorite food is Quinoa!

I personally like eating it plain, I'll pack it for lunch in a zip lock bag and just eat it cold. Some may think this is gross, but I like it.

I am a champion and this is my breakfast :)

Good morning friends!

I have got a soar throat and I had pizza and ice cream yesterday. So this morning  I'm trying to be back on track.

Last week I did the "Military Diet" (link in the right column) which has small 3 portions a day. I now don't desire to snack every 10minutes lol! So now I'm modifying it for my everyday.

Having a protein at every meal and a carb it really nice for my system. It only took me the third day for my body to realize "hey, we don't need to eat hugungus portions a million times a day!" Haha

This morning I'm having Echinacea Tea for my soar throat and just feeling under the weather. Along with fruit and a slice to toast :)

I'm a champion and this is my breakfast, Romans 8: 37-39.

Good choices...for the stomach and Soul

Hello followers!

I have not been doing any diets/plans/controlled eating lately. There have been a few things that have made it difficult to keep with either a diet or focused clean eating.
But I don't want to leave you wondering "what's going on with The Healthy First Kiss Girl?" :)

I'm very transparent...so I'll be honest with you...I eat Chick-fil-A, McDonalds and junk food all on occasion. I also am not as "planned" about my meals as I would like to be. But life shouldn't be about staying one way...but rather being conscious about what foods are good and what ones are bad. For example: that McDonalds I had for lunch...I know I'll be paying for it later...it just isn't "good food" for me.
But in preparing for my trip to the good 'ol Garden State I selected Grapefruit Juice :)
along with a banana and cottage cheese...see, those were my "good food" choices today.

So the next time you have to stop somewhere to eat or can't choose something super healthy...just think about each choice and decide what to do based on what you are comfortable with. Detoxing is also something I try to do regularly, especially after a party with super awesome goodies ;)

One last encouragement...when the day kind of gets away and you feel like you're just chasing time...remember...you still have "good choices" you can make by praying in your car, listening and singing worship music or reading a few chapters in the Bible before bed...God knows you have to choose make the choice...He also knows your human state...but He has given you everything you need to make good decisions in your life..so, help yourself by accepting Gods help found only in His unshakable Word. :)

Blessings to you this week!

Depressing or blessing?

I went through my closet of jeans in hopes to get rid of some...

I realized: "As long as I don't gain or loose weight I'm set for jeans for LIFE!"

Some people would consider it depressing that my "bigger jeans" are now "just the right size"... But I'm wondering wether to see this as depressing or a blessing. I don't have to buy jeans for a while (as you can see) and every pair fits!! Isn't that a good thing? I don't have to spend money!

You probably know from reading my blogs that I'm health focused. I try to eat right and take vitamins and do my part to care for Gods temple. Why would I be upset having this healthy life and having a certain size of jeans? I get compliments often from wonderful people that I look great, why would I depress myself by being unsatisfied? This may just be a time. Why should I be down about my body when I'm taking good care of it? I shouldn't.

So here I am, a size 9 jeans girl...at one point I was a 5...but I'm happy no matter what size jean I slip into :)

Please be blessed and not depressed with me!!! :)

I'm back!!! GOODmorning :)

Good morning my followers!
First, to have a "good" morning I believe I have to be focused on good things. This morning I'm still being blessed by waking up yesterday and grabbing my Bible. (If you'd like to read my daily posts...see my "life blog" or friend request me on Facebook)
I realized that every morning should consist of me "grabbing my Bible" in excitement to talk to God! But every morning is not like that. God is so understanding that He doesn't require that of my mornings...but He also reads my heart even if my morning isn't spent reading His Word.

Gods Word is life...and until I pick it up..that life is gradually being drained from me. I often get frustrated and stressed in the absence of His Word but one grab of the Bible purposely seeking Him and I'm released and rejuvenated! :)
That is the GOOD I need in my morning :)

So I'm getting back on track with the Word and the food!! Today I'm having coffee, a slice of 12 grain bread and 2 over-easy eggs...plus my vitamins :)

I hope you make healthy food choices today and healthy life choices today.
Bring something "good" in your day today. Maybe replace a thought of bitterness with a thought of love towards someone. Or maybe replace a time of stress with a time of smiling.
Or just take care of all of it with the Bible open and ready all day :)

God bless your Friday :)
