Hello Weekend!

Okay followers...I still love Quinoa. Yesterday my Dad grilled some chicken, I steamed some Kale and mixed veggies with Italian seasoning. Today I'm putting those leftovers in my Quinoa.

I am also taking on the AB Alphabet. (Ill post the link to that when I'm at my laptop). I did some things with 10LB weights and did a minute wall sit (was at 3 minutes but took a break and have to build up again).

My advice today would be, enjoy the weekend. Don't be consumed in thinking about eating right or your weight. Life is about investing in people...no matter what you look like. God has plans for you today...let your diet follow you...not you follow your diet. Do what's healthy for the awesome person you are :)

My Day :)

Hello followers!

It has been a while since I've posted! Today I would like to do a quick post about my day and give you some cool info about my new Favorite food!

My Day:
Breakfast: Banana and Coffee
Lunch: Cheese and ham on whole grain wrap and Quinoa
Dinner: Honey-nut Cheerio's (because I could)

My new favorite food is Quinoa!

I personally like eating it plain, I'll pack it for lunch in a zip lock bag and just eat it cold. Some may think this is gross, but I like it.

I am a champion and this is my breakfast :)

Good morning friends!

I have got a soar throat and I had pizza and ice cream yesterday. So this morning  I'm trying to be back on track.

Last week I did the "Military Diet" (link in the right column) which has small 3 portions a day. I now don't desire to snack every 10minutes lol! So now I'm modifying it for my everyday.

Having a protein at every meal and a carb it really nice for my system. It only took me the third day for my body to realize "hey, we don't need to eat hugungus portions a million times a day!" Haha

This morning I'm having Echinacea Tea for my soar throat and just feeling under the weather. Along with fruit and a slice to toast :)

I'm a champion and this is my breakfast, Romans 8: 37-39.

Good choices...for the stomach and Soul

Hello followers!

I have not been doing any diets/plans/controlled eating lately. There have been a few things that have made it difficult to keep with either a diet or focused clean eating.
But I don't want to leave you wondering "what's going on with The Healthy First Kiss Girl?" :)

I'm very transparent...so I'll be honest with you...I eat Chick-fil-A, McDonalds and junk food all on occasion. I also am not as "planned" about my meals as I would like to be. But life shouldn't be about staying one way...but rather being conscious about what foods are good and what ones are bad. For example: that McDonalds I had for lunch...I know I'll be paying for it later...it just isn't "good food" for me.
But in preparing for my trip to the good 'ol Garden State I selected Grapefruit Juice :)
along with a banana and cottage cheese...see, those were my "good food" choices today.

So the next time you have to stop somewhere to eat or can't choose something super healthy...just think about each choice and decide what to do based on what you are comfortable with. Detoxing is also something I try to do regularly, especially after a party with super awesome goodies ;)

One last encouragement...when the day kind of gets away and you feel like you're just chasing time...remember...you still have "good choices" you can make by praying in your car, listening and singing worship music or reading a few chapters in the Bible before bed...God knows you have to choose make the choice...He also knows your human state...but He has given you everything you need to make good decisions in your life..so, help yourself by accepting Gods help found only in His unshakable Word. :)

Blessings to you this week!

Depressing or blessing?

I went through my closet of jeans in hopes to get rid of some...

I realized: "As long as I don't gain or loose weight I'm set for jeans for LIFE!"

Some people would consider it depressing that my "bigger jeans" are now "just the right size"... But I'm wondering wether to see this as depressing or a blessing. I don't have to buy jeans for a while (as you can see) and every pair fits!! Isn't that a good thing? I don't have to spend money!

You probably know from reading my blogs that I'm health focused. I try to eat right and take vitamins and do my part to care for Gods temple. Why would I be upset having this healthy life and having a certain size of jeans? I get compliments often from wonderful people that I look great, why would I depress myself by being unsatisfied? This may just be a time. Why should I be down about my body when I'm taking good care of it? I shouldn't.

So here I am, a size 9 jeans girl...at one point I was a 5...but I'm happy no matter what size jean I slip into :)

Please be blessed and not depressed with me!!! :)

I'm back!!! GOODmorning :)

Good morning my followers!
First, to have a "good" morning I believe I have to be focused on good things. This morning I'm still being blessed by waking up yesterday and grabbing my Bible. (If you'd like to read my daily posts...see my "life blog" or friend request me on Facebook)
I realized that every morning should consist of me "grabbing my Bible" in excitement to talk to God! But every morning is not like that. God is so understanding that He doesn't require that of my mornings...but He also reads my heart even if my morning isn't spent reading His Word.

Gods Word is life...and until I pick it up..that life is gradually being drained from me. I often get frustrated and stressed in the absence of His Word but one grab of the Bible purposely seeking Him and I'm released and rejuvenated! :)
That is the GOOD I need in my morning :)

So I'm getting back on track with the Word and the food!! Today I'm having coffee, a slice of 12 grain bread and 2 over-easy eggs...plus my vitamins :)

I hope you make healthy food choices today and healthy life choices today.
Bring something "good" in your day today. Maybe replace a thought of bitterness with a thought of love towards someone. Or maybe replace a time of stress with a time of smiling.
Or just take care of all of it with the Bible open and ready all day :)

God bless your Friday :)

Hi there!!!
So our family got a stomach bug.
It started with me, went through my family and my sisters family.

I have been off track on eating as we haven't been to the store to get fruit and my appetite is off balance. But...soon...I'll be posting what I'm eating again! :)

Vitamins!!

Another part of being healthy is having the right kind of things to feed your body.
Vitamins are really good for your body!!
I used to use GNC Active Woman's Vitamins, which seemed to work fine, only they gave me stomach cramps!
A year ago I started using Nutrilite's DoubleX. It is AMAZING! I love it!

Did you know if you put a vitamin in a cup of water you can actually see how your body digests it?!
Lets just say most store bought ones sit at the bottom. No wonder I was getting stomach cramps!!
This DoubleX vitamin completely dissolves to being DRINKABLE. Crazy huh? No! It's not crazy, that's the way it should be! Haha.

Do you want to try DoubleX vitamins?
You can't find them in the store. But you can get them through me :) so also by your purchase you are supporting me too! Win win!

Trust me, I am not trying to sell you here. The vitamins are great, if you want it, get it. If you don't, then don't. I'm just letting you know how to get them! :)

If you are interested you can go here and get them or visit the "My Business" tab on the upper left side of my full blog site

www.amway.com/diligenthands

Don't let the name throw you off...I just like what they have :) and I'm sharing it with you.

So the vitamin has your Multivitamin, your Multimineral and your Phytonutrient (which is actually a whole bunch of plants and greens. Yay! -that's my favorite)

Anyway...that's what I use. I love it. It helps me with energy, healing, muscles, clear thinking and I don't run out of steam in the middle of the day :)

That's all I have to say lol

Check back later :)

Good morning!!!

I walked around the kitchen for a few minutes wrestling about what to eat. I've been wanting to do the Military Diet again but I would need to go to the store. I don't have much time this week as our church is having Vacation Bible School and our family plays a big part in it. We are the decorating committee, the worship director and music director. My day is GONE by 4pm. So I don't have time to be planning ahead with what I'm eating.

I went into the pantry and picked up the box of Cocoa Pebbles only for a second. I put it down and turned off the light...I headed to the fridge...we had some melon, but I needed something more to hold me over.

I had: 12 grain toast with peanut butter, chia seed and raisins :) one slice was enough.

My coffee is another story. For a few years I've been using International Delight French Vanilla much is so nicely full of artificial sweeteners, preservatives and I'm sure any other fake thing they could get in there....but I can't kick the habit.
For a while now I've entertained the thought of drinking black coffee...but it only lasted a few days and I wanted my creamer!

So don't be discouraged if you struggle with a love-hate relationship with your "ID"...you aren't alone haha

Getting my work out on today!!:
-40min on treadmill (walking at 3.5mph, running at 7mph)
-10lb weights routine (arm curls, jabs, lifts, push-back's, side bends)
-maybe TurboFire 10Abs and/or 20Core
-squats
-arms circles
-wall sit
-stretch :)

Hope you enjoy your day!!!! Remember God made your body, He knows the best way to take care of it, ask Him! :)

Happy Monday!

This morning I had a lovely breakfast date with my boyfriend. We went to a diner :)
I got 2 eggs over-easy, bacon, whole wheat toast and grits. It was filling. I didn't eat all the toast.

For lunch I started with about 1 1/2 cup of Cottage Cheese to encourage healthy choices. What I wanted was chips!! Haha.
Now, I'm about to enjoy a can of peas. I love peas, and yes I eat a whole can!

After that I might have some apple sauce or some other fruit. But before it get too late in the day I'm allowing myself a few M&M's :)

I have to remind myself to DRINK WATER...I just get so busy going through my tasks, then I feel tired and I wonder why...IM NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER!

Water and sleep are so important for being healthy. Sadly, they are the first to go in our society. DON'T FORGO THEM! Increase them! Make the time for it. You'll be glad you did.

Oh, and please please please don't use energy drinks or caffeine to "replace" them. Those are only cover ups...there is not cure for needing sleep and needing water EXEPT to get sleep and drink water. True water. Flavored waters and other "healthy" drinks are like healthy sodas. You still need water.

So fill up those cups...drink and pee, drink and pee :)

Hahaha!

Enjoy your day!!!! :D

Lunch

Today I wasn't that hungry...but rice sounded so good!

One of the days on my last diet I ate only brown rice and fruit juice. It sounded good to me today. (Yes, that is a Aladdin cup)
I have surprisingly added a few things I did in the 7 day diet to my regular diet now.
It wasn't a hard diet, I just had to plan more.
I'd like to go on it again soon :)

Hope you find something today that brings a smile to your face :) remember YOU ARE AN AWESOME CREATION OF GOD (He doesn't create anything else but awesome! Haha)

Lunch

This is my lunch! In my world tuna fish and raisins are friends :)
This is multi-grain bread with mayonnaise (real mayo!), tuna, dill weed, and raisins. And a nice refreshing side of watermelon.
Yes, that is a Star Wars cup!!! Because my boyfriend is my best friend and that was his first gift to me :)

Do some looking up of Echinacea Tea today! I have been drinking it for years. Anytime I feel a soar throat coming on, I drink it up and it helps so much :)

The finished omelette muffins

I'm bagging some to put in the freezer for breakfasts for my Dad.

Here's what I did:

1/2 red pepper chopped
1/2 onion chopped
1 Cup cheese (I used Mexican blend from Costco)
8 eggs
1/4 cup milk
4 strips of cooked bacon chopped (a little bit set aside to top)
3 Tablespoons Salsa (because I didn't have tomatoes)
1/2 tsp baking powder
Tiny bit of Pepper and Salt

Oven at 350 F.

Spray muffin tray. Try to spray each one, or coat with butter if you'd like.

I put everything into a bowl mixed it up and used a ladle to put it into the muffin tin. Then sprinkled the bacon pieces on top.

Cook about 20minutes...until it doesn't wiggle that much anymore and is starting to brown a little on top. :)

I plan to add spinach next time :) and maybe do vegetarian ones for someone ;)

Omelette muffins :)

Today I decided to try one of the breakfast recipes on Pinterest!
Working on it now.... :)

Mandy's: How to be healthy...

I am convinced that the only way to be truly healthy with our bodies is to have a healthy relationship with its Creator.

"Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn Your commands" Psalm 119:73

"He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight" Ephesians 1:4

"Heal me O Lord and I will be healed, save me and I will be saved, for You are the One I praise" Jeremiah 17:14

"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit-fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in My name. This is my command: love each other." John 15:16-17

"The good man brings good things out of the good stores up in him" Matthew 12:35

"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life" John 4:13-14

I prayed a while back that God would give me a healthy outlook on my body. Not only has He been doing that but He has also given me the opportunity to encourage others. God created our bodies, He knows how it works and what it needs, we need to ask Him. Out of all the people in this world, the One who loved us before we were even born and who forgives our sins constantly should be the One we come to.
Be specific. He won't get tired of you calling Him up :) (otherwise He would have been tired of me years ago haha)

Pray about your body and what you eat today :)

Something to share

This is my "happy journal" I have been writing encouraging scripture verses in it to help keep me focused on what really matters. It is a good quick pick me up. Also, studies show that when we copy something our brains will probably remember it better :)

I purchased this one from LifeWay.

Lunch after Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Eating an apple and banana for lunch and maybe some veggies too. Had a bun at a picnic yesterday and after my cereal cheat this morning fruit sounds good.

Today do something good on purpose. Wether that be smiling at someone, eating something healthy, reading a chapter out of the Bible...just do it. I'm going to do it too.

Check out my other blog www.carvingpillars.blogspot.com for a *new post* later today :)

Dinner with Kale

Tonight I'm having Chicken with Kale and Carrots :)

The thing I wanted to share is I sauté my Kale with olive oil and garlic...kale shrinks down so much...and I wanted to share just how much it does...

Before...

And after done cooking...

Isn't that crazy?? Haha it's kind of funny to me.

Anyway enjoy the rest of your day and eat something fresh :)

Just another day...

Mandy's concoction and snap peas!
I made the concoction on Beef and Veggie day. It has: onion, red peppers, corn, carrots, tomatoes, a little bit of pasta sauce and ground beef.

We get our beef from a farm not to far from us called Wolf Creek Farm (http://www.wolfcreek-farm.com/)
it's amazing beef and the owner take pride in his cows and works hard to feed them right to get the best beef. We like it! :)

I'm not on a diet today but I don't want to fill up on bread or sweets, so I'm thinking about what I'm eating first :)

Welcome to My Food Blog!

I am so excited about being able to share with you my food and health journey in one place!
I just finished GM's Diet which consisted of different foods a day. It was a great diet and I was very proud of myself for finishing it! (bear with me as I try to figure out how to post the diets so you can see them).
I had a "SPLURGE" day afterwards and consumed cereal, Chinese food and Krispy Kream, all of which I am still paying for! But whats a good accomplishment without a little treat, right??

I have weddings to attend this month so I am going to try to do shorter diets so that I can have a little something extra on the weekends.

Now, don't get me wrong here, diets to me are just planned meals. That's something that I like and need. I have such a hard time figuring out what to eat, and my cravings are usually all over the place. So I choose a diet plan that looks interesting with foods I already eat and I "pin" it :)

You can follow me on Pinterest but give me a little bit as I'm still trying to figure out the best way to utilize this blog for you.

Share my blog with your friends! I would love for others to be encouraged by how God is teaching me to select foods. For right now I am doing my own workout concoction with: Treadmill, 10lb weights, TurboFire and Dance. I did some P90X a year ago and learned a lot from that, so I might do it again soon.

I hope you are encouraged today and that no matter what the weather is like outside, that in your heart God shines brighter than ever before giving you His warm light to bring about your child-like faith.

:) Smile!
